Decade Back all most all the Prayer flags were imported from India and some portion were made here in Nepal by Locals. They somehow made the prayer flags look colorful and attractive but could not reach its real religious significance .On those prayer flags, a lot of holy text were found missing and images of deities were made like comic sketch.
In real term of Buddhism, only attractive colors does not fulfill the true goal of the authentic prayer flag. In fact, the traditional authentic prayers and mantras must exist in a prayer flags in a way to promote Peace, Compassion, Strength and Wisdom. A lot of people were buying such incomplete prayer flags,since they have no option, beside buying such flags or go without it.
Regarding this sticky situation, in 1990 , Yolmo Prayer Flags & Handicrafts Exports(YPFHE) in Nepal, initiated production of quality prayer flags. We personally request everyone to treat Prayer flags with traditional respect since Prayer Flags contain sacred holy prayer and images. Please do not Place it on ground or use it as an article of clothing. To Dispose the old used one , please burn them.
